The municipality is located in the central zone of the Department of Atlántida on the north coast of Honduras between the coastal plains of the Caribbean Sea and the foothills of the Nombre de Dios mountain range. It is divided into three environments: a narrow strip of beach of approximately 17 kilometers, low and flat land, including wetlands, and high land, including hills, hills, and mountainous areas.

Punta Izopo National Park: Punta Izopo is the second national park located in the vicinity of Tela. Barely 12 kilometers separate this wildlife sanctuary from the city. Hot Springs in the Community of Mezapita: This spa is located two kilometers from the Jilamito village, between Tela and La Ceiba, take the detour in the Leán river through a dirt road with many natural landscapes. The hot springs gush from a crystalline spring at 80, which are mixed with cold water to achieve pleasant temperatures for the human body (approx. 40°C). This tourist spot is highly visited by people seeking ecological fun, relaxation, or medicinal purposes. since the thermal baths are considered medicinal since ancient times and currently verified by the OMS.
