The headwaters are located on the coastal plain, 5 km from the coast between the Cataguana and San Pedro ravines, and the municipality is irrigated by the Lean, Mezapa and Mezapita rivers. It is located on the Caribbean coastal plain, crossed by the farria line that leads to La Ceiba; very close to there passes the San Juan river. Its coordinates are: 87º 00′ and 88º 00′ west longitude; and 15º 00′ and 16º 00′ north latitude.
